Schmick Contemporary is an independent artist-run initiative located on level 2 at 706 George Street in Chinatown on unceded Gadigal Land.

Schmick is a not-for-profit inclusive space where artists are encouraged to experiment and take risks that may sit outside the expectations and limitations of traditional and commercial art institutions. Schmick aims to facilitate discourse through the growth of community led by artists and peers.

Physical Accessibility

Schmick Contemporary is located on level 2 of an old building in Chinatown, Sydney. Unfortunately there is no physical accessibility alternative we are have been able to create. We are working on alternatives for viewing the shows virtually.  If there are any questions or specific requests, please reach out.

Sensory Accessibility
Schmick Contemporary has a lot of potentially overwhelming sensory experiences involved in visiting.  The building can be loud, sometimes with a faulty alarm going off. The location is on a very busy main street. On an opening night celebration, the gallery itself can get quite warm, stuffy, busy and loud.  Please feel free to reach out to ask any questions.

Schmick Contemporary acknowledges the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation upon whose unceded lands we live and work.
We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging.
