Take Root
Owen Moyo & Pinga

15 January – 31 January 2026

Zimbabwean-born Owen Moyo and Pinga explore what it means to produce art for and about a culture that didn’t produce you.

Owen Moyo (b. 1984, Zimbabwe)
Pinga (b.1994, Zimbabwe)

Owen Moyo: Australian painter who blends traditional styles with contemporary, surreal and expressionist forms. Influenced by the Ndebele art form that developed in Zimbabwe as a coded protest against colonisation, Moyo harnesses both Zimbabwean techniques and materials in addition to western forms to create his works through the lens of observation, learning, and exploring place. Through this blending of style and mediums, Moyo asks what art was, what it is now, and what it will become.

Pinga: Street photographer based in Sydney, chronicling the nuances of daily life on city streets in search of poetic imagery hidden in plain sight. Pinga's commitment to his craft extends to self-developing film and darkroom printing.
